Guahu Taotao Tåno

I am proud of who I am. I am proud of where I came from. I will not in any way diminish or water-down who I am and where I came from.

Yes I am from Guam. But I do not consider myself “Guamanian.” I am Chamorro. I was born on this land and will die on this land. My children will as well as my grandchildren and my future great-grandchildren.

Nobody should ever take that away from me or anyone else, especially any elected leader.

I have friends who are proud Filipinos.

Proud Japanese.

Proud Pohnpeians.

Proud Palauans.

And it goes on and on.

They live on Guam just like us but they too are proud of their heritage.

As Governor, it is your duty to preserve and promote the native Culture. Not pretend it doesn’t exist and try and take away our proud heritage.
